Events throughout the year reflect Kaikoura’s land and sea environment, with many harking back to simpler times when the A&P show and annual trotting cup were the highlight of the social calendar – it’s nice to escape the hurly burly and get back to grassroots’ values from time to time.

Kaikoura's Seafest goes from strength to strength, with tickets sold out in 2007. This premier festival featuring wine, food and live entertainment, is an annual celebration of the abundance of the ocean and all it represents for the Kaikoura region.
Golf and fishing events provide a little sport in a beautiful environment and the A&P Show is a celebration of  Kaikoura’s strong rural roots.

Car and motorcycle events give petrol heads the opportunity to get into the back blocks and the annual axeman’s carnival will be all glinting, razor-sharp blades and muscular action.

The Coast’s enviable surf attracts surfies from around the country and if art is more your thing, the 48 hour photo competition will give you plenty of opportunity to get up close to nature and be creative.
